Attorney John Mizner of Erie, PA; serial thief

The state of Pennsylvania presented John F. Mizner with a law license in 1988.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found John guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  2. Engaged in conduct reflecting on his honesty and trustworthiness
  3. Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his fitness to practice law
Johnny’s misconduct was related to his habit of billing his law firm for travel expenses he never incurred. Over a period of about six-months, Johnny submitted 34 false travel expense vouchers whereby he purchased airfare for alleged business trips, obtained a receipt, then cancelled the trip but submitted the receipt for reimbursement.

As a result of his fraudulent claims, Johnny received $69,868.69 from his law firm. After the firm discovered Johnny’s serial frauds and confronted him, he did what any coward would do, he resigned.

Johnny’s Hyperbolic (BS) Defense

Johnny blamed his misconduct and thefts on his claim that he suffered from a type of obsessive compulsive disorder. John hired Dr. Ann McAllister to spew forth this laughable diagnosis. Of course Ann didn’t do this on the cheap!

As expected, the morons (my apologies to morons) sitting on the Supreme Court accepted Johnny’s BS excuse in accepting it as mitigation for his egregious misconduct. The morons went further by laughably stating that Johnny’s compulsive disorder was a “substantial factor” in causing his misconduct.

As a consequence of his repeat misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished John by gifting him with a complimentary six-month suspension of his law license.

Because Attorney Misfits in Pennsylvania are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Johnny was never criminally prosecuted for fraud and theft.

As we speak (ca. July 2012) John practices with the Mizner Law Firm at 201 German Street in Erie, Pennsylvania.
