Attorney Michael Sue of Peoria, IL; ethical elf

The state of Illinois presented Michael Alan Sue with a law license in 2004.

The Disciplinary Commission found Michael guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in conduct tending to bring the courts/legal profession into disrepute
  2. Improperly provided financial assistance to clients
It is improper in every state for an attorney to advance money to clients while they represent the clients in any case seeking damages. Michael provided his clients with advance payments in numerous cases, including workers’ compensation or civil cases, which were not made for an expense of litigation.

The payments to clients were made for purposes such as advances on a client’s settlement, travel, medication, cab fare, gas, medical treatments, general travel expenses, job search, and a funeral expense.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Michael by gifting him complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. July 2012) Michael practices with the Law Offices of Warren Danz at 710 NE Jefferson Avenue in Peoria, Illinois.
