Justice Catherine Connors of Maine; ethical troll

Unfortunately, the state of Maine provided Catherine Connors with a law license in 1984 after she graduated from Northwestern University School of Law.

FYI: Gov. Janet Mills was duped into appointing Cathy as an Associate Justice of the Maine Supreme Court. Cathy didn’t obtain the nomination because she was the most qualified attorney in Maine. She received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

An ethics complaint has been lodged against Cathy by Thomas Cox alleging that she engaged in an egregious conflict of interest when she heard two consequential mortgage cases, Finch v. U.S. Bank and Morgan Mortgage Acquisition Corp. v. Moulton.

For decades Maine’s legal precedent prohibited banks from suing borrowers for defaulting on their loans a second time if the first case was dismissed because a proper notice of default was not issued. The precedent was upheld in two cases in 2017, Fannie Mae v. Deschaine and Pushard v. Bank of America.

Prior to being appointed to the Supreme Court, Cathy , worked on the 2017 cases for the lenders, representing Bank of America in Pushard and co-authoring a brief for the MaineBankers Association in Deschaine.

Apparently when Cathy attended Northwestern University Law School it did not offer any classes dealing with conflicts of interests and an attorney and/or judges’ legal responsibility to recuse and/or withdraw representation in such matters.

Additionally, it certainly appears that Cathy suffers from a severe case of arrogance in that the rules dealing with conflicts of interest do not apply to her. Put simply, she must believe that her bowel movement is without odor.

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Cathy by the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

As we speak (ca. April 2024), Cathy continues to dispense her so-called idea of jurisprudence as an Associate Justice of the Maine Supreme Court.
