Former Judge Charles Vess of Natchez, MS; serial offender

FYI: This wasn’t Charlie’s First bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received four (4) informal admonitions and three (3) formal admonitions for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

The Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance found Charlie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct for the seventh (7th) time.

  • Charlie told a defendant he might shoot him because he felt threatened because the man kept his hands in his pockets Charlie also admitted making disparaging and demeaning remarks to a defendant and his mother
  • Engaged in willful misconduct in office
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Brought his judicial office into disrepute
  • Failed to respect and comply with the law (scofflaw)
  • Failed to perform his judicial duties without bias or prejudice to those appearing before him

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Mississippi Supreme Court punished Charlie by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension from the bench and a $1,100.00 fine.

Subsequently, Charlie did what most cowardly Judicial Misfits do, he resigned.

As we speak (ca. April 2024), it is rumored that Charlie has an application pending as a bathroom attendant at the Walmart Supercenter Store at 314 Sargeant Prentiss Drive in Natchez, Mississippi.
