Assistant DA Carin Goldfarb of Detroit, MI; ethical troll

The state of Michigan presented Carin B. Goldfarb with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Wayne State University School of Law.

The Tri-County Hearing Panel #81 found Carin guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide the complainant with a copy of the complaint for divorce upon request
  • Failed to effectuate service of the complaint on the defendant
  • Failed to file motion reinstate the divorce matter
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Failed to file a new divorce proceeding  until nine months later
  • Failed to advise the client of the dismissal of the first divorce proceeding
  • Failed to respond to client inquiries
  • Signed client’s name to the second complaint for divorce without her knowledge or authorization
  • Made representations to the client which were false and were known by Carin to be false at the time they were made
  • Failed to advise the client of the requirement to pay a Friend of the Court investigation fee
  • Failed to appear at a settlement conference on client’s behalf
  • Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
  • Engage in conduct involving dishonesty, deceit, misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct reflecting adversely on the lawyer's honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Carin by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license and assessed investigative costs in the amount of $932.35.

As we speak (ca. March 2024), Carin practices his so-called brand of law as an Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor at 1441 Saint Antoine Street in Detroit, Michigan.
