Attorney Patricia Harvey of Asheville, NC; tax scofflaw

The state of North Carolina presented Patricia W. Harvey with a law license in 1991 after she graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Patty guilty of the following misconduct.

• Over two-year period of time, Patty did not pay over to federal or state tax authorities income taxes withheld from the wages of her employees
• Patty absolutely knew that the funds she withheld from her employees’ paychecks did not belong to her
• During the two-year period of time, Patty used income taxes withheld from employee paychecks to pay her personal expenses and/or expenses of her law firm
• Patty was required to collect Social Security and Medicare taxes (FICA) on behalf of her employees
• Patty failed to pay over to Treasury FICA taxes she collected from the wages of her employees over a six-year period of time
• Failed to timely file federal income tax returns from 2015 through 2019
• Failed to filed federal income tax returns for fiscal years 2025 through 2019 until July 2021
• Committed numerous federal tax crimes
• Patty pled guilty in Wake County Superior Court to embezzlement of state properly
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on her fitness to practice

All that remains is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Patty by the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar.
