Attorney John M. Carroll of Appleton, WI; serial offender
The state of Wisconsin presented John Miller Carroll with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Marquette University Law School.
The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) found John guilty of the following misconduct.
- Failed to diligently pursue a client’s claim (slacker)
- Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of legal matter
- Failed to cooperate with grievance investigators (Up Yours said Johnny!)
- Engaged in conduct involving dishonest, fraud, deceit and misrepresentation
- Engaged in misconduct involving multiple trust accounts
- Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him
- Engaged in the unauthorized practice of law while his license was suspended
- Improperly provided financial assistance to client in connection with pending litigation
- Failed to timely return file to client after he was discharged
This wasn’t Johnny’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree.
- In 1992 Johnny received a complimentary reprimand for his conduct in mishandling trust funds.
- In 1997 Johnny received another complimentary reprimand for misrepresenting (lying) that he had filed a motion on behalf of a client.
- In 1999 Johnny received his 3rd complimentary reprimand from the comedians sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court for neglecting a legal matter entrusted to him, failing to communicate with a client, and refusing to return unearned fees.
As a consequence of his 4th bite at the Misfit Tree, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished John by gifting him with a complimentary 12-month suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. July 2012) John practices with the John Miller Carroll Law Office at 226 South State Street in Appleton, Wisconsin.
