Attorney Jeffrey A. Berger of San Jose; repeater, ethical elf

The state of California provided Jeffrey Alan Berger with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of Dayton Law School.

The Calfiornia Bar Court found Jeffrey guilty of the following misconduct

Jeff's 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Failed to provide competent legal services (moron)
  2. Failed to communicate with client
  3. Refused to respond to repeated calls from client
  4. Refused to return file to client after he was fired
  5. Failed to cooperate with Bar investigation (Up yours, said Jeffrey!)
While representing a wife in a divorce case, Jeffrey won an order for temporary spousal support on her behalf. However, he never took any action to enforce the court order, thereby leaving his client holding the bag.

When the opposing lawyer filed a request to enter a default on the wife’s temporary spousal support order, Jeffrey never responded to it. Over a six-month period of time, Jeffrey failed to respond to his client’s numerous e-mails and phone calls. When she fired him, he refused to return her file.

As expected, this wasn’t Jeffrey’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He had previously been disciplined for the misconduct set forth below, which led to him receiving a complimentary reprimand from the California Bar Court.

Jeff's 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Failed to provide competent legal services (moron)
  2. Refused to return file to client after he was fired
  3. Failed to maintain client records
  4. Failed to cooperate with Bar investigation (Up yours, said Jeffrey!)
  5. Committed acts of moral turpitude
As a consequence of his most recent misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Jeffrey by gifting him with a 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Jeffrey practices with the Law Office of Jeffrey A. Berger in San Jose, California.
