Attorney Elvin Grundy III of Phoenix, AZ; slacker, repeat offender

The state of Arizona presented Elvin Garry Grundy III with a law license in 2010 after he graduated from Harvard University School of Law.

The Arizona State Bar found Elvin guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to communicate with his client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to timely to review the State’s discovery material or provide it to his client
  • Client (victim) was especially vulnerable

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Elvin by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and assessed investigative costs of $1,200.00.

Elvin’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Collected $10,000 to represent client in post-conviction relief case
  • Failed to obtain or review his client’s trial transcripts
  • Failed to timely file a notice of post-conviction relief resulting in dismissal of the proceeding
  • Client [victim] terminated Elvin and requested a refund but no refund was provided.
  • Elvin failed to supervise his paralegal, which led to the paralegal’s unauthorized practice of law
  • Elvin’s client paid his $400, believing him to be a lawyer, and the paralegal did not return the money
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
