Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) Today’s “Screwball” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Sen. Rand Paul
Today’s “Screwball” Award Winner

In an attempt to assure that he retains his exalted status as one of America’s foremost Screwballs. Towards that end, Sen. Paul decided it would be appropriate to single-handedly block flood insurance legislation that is supported by the majority of Senators.

The Loon (my apologies to Loons) is holding this legislation hostage until the Senate agrees that life begins at fertilization. Screwy Rand has put forth a “fetal personhood” amendment that would give legal protections to fetuses from the moment of fertilization.

For the life of me I can’t understand how the Loon’s amendment has anything to do with flood insurance. I’m fairly certain there ain’t any fertilization taking place when the folks along the mighty Mississippi are experiencing massive flooding.

What is really aggravating is the fact that a Loon like Paul actually has the power to prevent this legislation from moving forward. When I took civics classes in the 1950s at Rosary Cathedral in Toledo, the nuns taught us that a majority rules in a democracy. California’s population is 37.3 million compared to 4.3 million in Kentucky, which is about a 9 to 1 ratio. As a resident of California I take great offense to a Loon like Paul trying to enforce his screwy ideology on Californians.

Even more troubling is the undeniable fact that while the country suffers from a budget crisis and high unemployment, our tax dollars are being spent on humoring Rand the Loon.

In the Loon’s demented mind, “fetal personhood” legislation is the most important matter facing the country. In my opinion, if the good folks in Kentucky want to incur the costs to pass such a law they can be my guest; however, this silliness doesn’t need to be addressed on the federal taxpayer’s dime.

Congrats Rand; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s most unaccomplished Screwballs; you are far too humble
