Attorney Ted Hunter of Seattle, WA; ethical troll
The state of Washington presented Ted Paul Hunter with a law license in 1978 after he graduated Gonzaga University School of Law.
The Washington State Bar found Teddy guilty of the following misconduct.
-
Engaged in a conflict of interest
-
Entered into prohibited business transaction with a client that was unfair and unreasonable
-
Failed to advise his client in writing to consult another attorney prior to entering into business transaction with Carl
-
Failed to explain matters to the extent necessary for clients to make informed decisions regarding the representation
-
Engaged in prohibited conduct by representing a client if the representation may be materially limited by Teddy’s own interests
-
Failed to obtain written consent from his client that to engage in a business transaction with the client wherein the client’s interest would or could conflict with Teddy’s interests
-
Entered into a business transaction with a client or knowingly acquired an ownership, possessory, security, or other pecuniary interest adverse to a client unless the transaction and its terms are fair and reasonable and fully disclosed and transmitted in writing to the client
-
Failed to give his client an opportunity to seek the advice of independent counsel prior to entering into a business transaction with the client
-
After incorporating a nonprofit called PEI, Ted named himself as its president, a member of the board, its registered agents, and lawyer for the corporation
-
Over the course of 3 years, Ted leaded several computers to PEI
-
Teddy never provided invoices to the PEI bord regarding the lease of the computers
-
Teddy failed to not fully disclose and transmit in writing the terms of the leases to the PEI Board
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Teddy by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. March 2023), Teddy practices his brand of law at 4500 9th Avenue NE in Seattle, Washington.
