Attorney Gregory Schillace of Clarksburg, WV; moronic slacker
The state of West Virginia presented Gregory H. Schillace with a law license in 1990after he graduated from the University of West Virginia School of Law.
The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Greg guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.
-
Greg’s misconduct cost his former clients their legal rights, property, peace of mind, and trust in the legal system
-
Greg also contributed to public distrust of the legal profession
-
Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
-
Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
-
Failed to communicate with his clients
-
Filed suit on contractor’s negligence on client’s behalf but never responded to contractor’s counterclaim
-
Failed to inform his clients that the contractor had filed a counterclaim
-
Failed to communicate with his clients about the contractor suit and/or counterclaim
-
Failed to answer contractor’s interrogatories, so the circuit court ordered that Greg file the responses, which he did ten days late
-
When contractor’s attorney moved for sanctions, Greg did not respond
-
The court ordered that Greg pay the contractor’s attorney fees as a sanction
-
When Greg informed the court that Greg had not paid the attorney fees as ordered, the court dismissed the client’s case with prejudice but allowed the counterclaim to proceed
-
Never reduced the scope or terms of his representation to writing
-
Greg did not inform his clients that the court dismissed their claims
-
Greg continued to withhold information about the counterclaim—despite the clients’ extensive efforts to get status updates on their case
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Greg by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. December 2022), Greg practices his so-called brand of law with the Schillace Law Office in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
CAUTION: Greg does not carry legal malpractice insurance
