Attorney Monte Prior of British Columbia, CAN; repeat offender

The Law Society of British Columbia provided Monte W. Prior with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia School of Law.

The Law Society of British Columbia found Monte guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Monte’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary warning for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

  • Between approximately February 21, 2018, and March 24, 2020, in relation to 55
  • client matters, Montie misused his trust account
  • Failed to withdraw some or all of $759,934.93 of trust funds as soon as practicable, contrary Law
  • Society Rules
  • Between approximately March 31, 2018, and April 30, 2020, he collected Goods and
  • Services Tax (“GST”) and Provincial Sales Tax (“PST”) from his clients but failed to
  • remit funds ($33,895.53 and $46,812.04, respectively due to the Canada Revenue Agency

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society of British Columbia punished Monte by gifting him with a complimentary $20,000.00 fine.

As we speak (ca. January 2023), Monte practices his so-called brand of law at 19 Dallas Road in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
