Attorney Angela Grau of Columbia, MD; ethical troll

The state of Maryland presented Angela Beckner Grau with a law license in 1993 after she graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Angie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to promptly inform her client of any decision or circumstance with respect to which her client’s informed consent is required
• Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit her client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
• Failed to communicate to her client the scope of the representation and the basis or rate of the fee and expenses for which her client would be responsible before or within a reasonable time after commencing the representation,
• Engaged in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Failed to adequately communicate, in writing, the terms of payment for which her client would be
• responsible
• At the conclusion of the litigation, Angie failed to clearly advise her client that the representation had ended and began assisting her client in seeking financing to pay off the balance owed to Angie
• Failed to explain to her client how the Angie’s efforts to assist the client in obtaining a loan differed from the representation in the underlying litigation

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Angie by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Angie and her firm fails to mention the above misconduct on their self-serving website at www.darslaw.com. Apparently, they chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting their future victim pool.
