Attorney James Peterson of New Smyrna Beach, FL; ethical dwarf

The state of Florida presented James C. Peterson with a law license in 2010 after he graduated from Barry University School of Law.

The Florida Bar found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Improperly maintained trust account that was not registered with the State Bar Foundation
• Trust account not clearly labeled or designated as a “trust account”
• Failed to safeguard client funds
• Audit revealed that there was a shortage of more than $600,000.00 in law firm’s escrow account that was utilized as an account for client matters
• Failed to have a written trust account plan as required under Chapter 5 of the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar
• Failed to comply with mandated trust accounting rules

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Jimmy fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.petersonlawgroupnsb.com. Apparently, Jimmy chose to conceal this information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.
