Attorney Jan R. Waddell, Sr. of Louisville, KY; serial convict

The state of Kentucky provided Jan. R. Waddell with a law license in 1979.

The Kentucky Bar Association (KBA) found Jan guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Commingled client funds with his personal funds
  2. Failed to main escrow account with bank which agrees to notify the KBA of bounced checks
  3. Four (4) DUI convictions
  4. Found guilty of assault in the 4th degree
  5. Criminally charged with menacing
  6. Charged with domestic violence (wife-beater)
  7. Pleaded guilty to wanton endangerment
  8. Personally owed over $60,000 in court judgments rendered against him
  9. Failed required drug test
Subsequently, Jan’s law license was suspended. Within a year he made application with the Character and Fitness Committee of the KBA for reinstatement of his law license. The members of the Character and Fitness Committee recommended that Jan’s law license be reinstated.

Subsequently, 21 members of the Board of Governors unanimously adopted the recommendation of the Fitness Committee. Shortly thereafter, the comedians sitting on the Kentucky Supreme Court voted to reinstate Jan’s law license.

How comforting it must be to the folks in Louisville to know that there is yet another convict operating with a law license in their area.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Jan practices law at 685 Southeastern Parkway in Louisville, Kentucky.
