Attorney Stephen LaCommare of Howell, MI; thieving slacker

The state of Michigan presented Stephen LaCommare with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from Michigan State University School of Law.

The Ingham County Hearing Panel #6 found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in misconduct in his representation of four separate clients in their various legal matters
  • Misused his IOLTA account
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Stevie!)
  • Neglected legal matters entrusted to him
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Engaged in conduct that was contrary to justice, ethics, honesty, or good morals
  • Failed to promptly comply with client information requests
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to protect his clients' interests upon termination of representation
  • Failed to refund any advance payment of fees that had not been earned (cheater)
  • Engaged in conduct that involved dishonesty, fraud, deceit, misrepresentation
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Misused his IOLTA account by paying his personal expenses
  • Misappropriated (stole) client funds (thief)
  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Engaged that exposed the legal profession or the courts to obloquy, contempt, censure, or reproach

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Michigan Supreme Court punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension his law license effective March 2022, ordered he pay $4,250.00 in restitution to a former client (victim), and assessed investigate costs of $2,262.45.

As we speak (ca. June 2022), Stevie will resume his so-called brand of law with the Kizer Law Firm PC in Howell, Michigan in early 2024.
