Attorney Joseph Walch of Los Angeles; thief

The state of Calfiornia provided Joseph Walsch with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from the University of West Los Angeles Law School, which is a third tier school that caters to losers that couldn’t get accepted into mainstream law schools like USC, UCLA, UC Davis or Pepperdine. It’s not even accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA)

The State Bar Court found Joseph guilty of the following misconduct involving 13 matters.

Joe claimed that as a result of being ill he delegated the responsibility of running his law office to his wife, Susanne Walch. Joe admitted that he did not supervise his wife’s activities. Susan resigned from the bar while misconduct charges were pending against her. Joe’s misconduct involved:
  1. Failing to notify clients he was no longer at the office
  2. Failure to supervise the office
  3. Failed to audit or verify the accounting of his business bank accounts
  4. Failed to audit client trust accounts
  5. Failed to audit or verify settlement moneys received on behalf of clients
  6. Conduct was reckless and grossly negligent
  7. Misappropriated (stole) client funds
  8. Failed to communicate with clients
Due to numerous complaints about Joe, the State Bar filed an action in Los Angeles Superior Court to assume jurisdiction over his law practice, which was granted by the trial court.

One glaring example of Joe’s misconduct stemmed from a personal injury case that settled for almost $20,000. Susanne Walch deposited the check into the client trust account, but all of the funds were later withdrawn over Joe’s signature and the client received nothing. When the account was eventually closed by the bank, it had a negative balance. Moreover, the client (victim) could not reach Joe, despite repeated phone calls.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Joseph by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Joseph practices law 1160 North Ogden Drive in Los Angeles, California.

It should be comforting to the folks living in the greater Los Angeles area to know that there’s another convicted felon practicing law compliments of the comedians sitting on the Calfiornia Surpeme Court.
