Attorney Yuanyue Mu of Cary, NC; ethical troll

The state of North Carolina presented Yuanyue Mu with a law license in 2011 after he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Mu guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Aided in transfer of property with intent to hinder, delay, or defraud a creditor
• Failed to review the bank statement and cancelled checks for his trust account
• each month
• Failed to conduct monthly reviews of his trust account
• Failed to compare the balance of the trust account shown in his records and the bank statement balance each month
• Failed to conduct monthly reconciliations of his trust account
• Failed to review the bank statement and cancelled checks for his trust account each month
• Failed to conduct monthly reviews of his trust account
• Failed to review the statement of costs and receipts, client ledger, and cancelled checks of a random sample of representative transactions completed in his trust account during the quarter on a quarterly basis
• Failed to conduct quarterly reviews of his trust account
• Failed to promptly deposit entrusted funds in his trust account
• Failed to properly maintain and deposit entrusted funds
• Failed to ensure his assistant properly prepared check for his client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Mu.

As we speak (ca. March 2022), Mu practices his so-called brand of law with the Law Office of Yuanyue Mu at 901 Kildaire Farm Road in Cary, North Carolina.
