Attorney Gary George of Grafton, WI; convicted felon

The state of Wisconsin presented Gary R. George with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.

Gary earned a dishonest living for 33 years while employed as a state legislator.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation found Gary guilty of the following misconduct.

George and fellow attorney crook Mark Sostarich undertook the joint legal representation of the Opportunities Industrialization Center of Greater Milwaukee (OIC) and entity that held contracts to administer Wisconsin’s welfare-reform program, popularly known as W-2 (Wisconsin Works).

George and Sostarich entered into business deals that eventually gave rise to federal conspiracy charges. George was indicted on charges that he accepted kickbacks as well as programs financed by state revenues. George subsequently plead guilty pursuant to a plea agreement. He was sentenced to four-years in prison and was ordered to pay $568,596.48 in restitution.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Felons sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Gary by gifting him with a four-year suspension of his law license. When George applied to have his law license reinstated after the four-year suspension had passed, these certified comedians had the chutzpah to grant his application.

It must be really comforting for Wisconsinites to know that there is yet another convicted felon practicing law compliments of the comics sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

I suppose it wouldn’t have been fair for the Supreme Court Justices to deny Gary an opportunity to earn a dishonest living as an attorney by denying his application for reinstatement.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Gary the Felon practices his brand of law at 1138 Lakeshore Road in Grafton, Wisconsin, which is about 21 miles north of Milwaukee.
