Attorney Christopher Reyes of Alexandria, VA; ethical troll, repeat offender

The state of Virginia presented Christopher Matthew Reyes with a law license in 2009 after he graduated from the University of Richmond Law School.

FYI: This isn’t Chris’ First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. To view the prior matter, visit the URL listed at the end of this article.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Chris guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to abide by his client’s decisions regarding the objectives of the representation
  • Stafford Circuit Court appointed Chris to represent Alonzo White regarding filing of an appeal
  • Failed to timely file notice of appeal on Mr. White’s behalf
  • Intentionally failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Chris!)
  • Repeatedly failed to act with due diligence (serial slacker)
  • Made no effort to contract his client
  • Failed to keep his clients reasonably informed of the status of their matters
  • Failed to explain the matter
  • Never discussed with Mr. White his right to pursue an appeal of his conviction
  • Failed to notify several clients of the dismissal of their appeals due to his negligence
  • Failed to advise clients of remedies available upon dismissal of their appeals
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client’s interests upon being terminated
  • Failed to uphold his duties to his clients and the legal profession

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license effective May 23,2021.

As we speak (July 2021), Chris will unfortunately be allowed to resume his so-called practice of law on or about May 23, 2022, in the Fredericks, Virginia and/or District of Columbia area.
