Attorney David Peckins of Coral Gables, FL; thief, phony workaholic

The state of Florida provided David Mark Peckins with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from the University of Miami School of Law.

The Florida’s Justice Administrative Commission (JAC) has found Davey guilty of engaging in the following questionable conduct and/or outright misconduct, al of which took place while he was employed by the state to represent indigent defendants. While so acting, Davey also had job as a contracted Miami-Dade traffic court judge.

• Found discrepancies in Jorge’s billing for defending Barahona
• Billed the state at least $1.3 million in fees for defending Barahona
• Billed the state over $3 million from 2010 thru 2020 on court-appointed cases
• Billed 77 hours to review same 222 pages of medical examiner documents in Barahona case
• Billed 172 hours to review 25 hours of jail calls
• Billed 18.5 hours on August 28, 2019, and had seven one hour hearing sessions scheduled as a hearing officer on the same date, meaning he billed for 25.5 hours in total
• Routinely billed the state between 50 and 70 hours a week 
• Billed the state in excess of 10 hours on a single day 1,208 times, many of the times since July 2018

As a direct consequence of his sham billing habits, the JAC terminated its employment contract with Davey.

Davey’s laughable (BS) defense

In a lame effort at levity,Davey defended his laughable billing habits by claiming he begins his workday at 3:30 or 4:00 a.m. and works until 10:00 or 10:30 p.m.

Clearly, Davey missed his calling as a Standup Comedian!

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Davey by the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court.

And lastly, because Attorney Misfits in Florida are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Davey was never criminally charged with fraud or grand larceny.
