Attorney Henry Sand of Broomfield, CO; cheating loser

The state of Colorado provided Henry Alan Sand with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from Duke University School of Law.

The Colorado State Bar found Hank guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
  • Hank’s firm compiled a spreadsheet showing that from April 2017 through December 2019 Hank had received significantly more in compensation than he should have
  • When confronted with the spreadsheet, Hank admitted he had been overpaid, but he maintained that he did not owe the calculated amount and that he believed a reconciliation would occur, whereby any amount he owed would be settled when he took over the firm
  • The firm and its financial manager reviewed the billing reports and payroll records and calculated that Hank had received a substantial overpayment
  • The firm then terminated Hank and demanded $27,000, which represented most of the overpayment

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme punished Hank by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 90-day suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Hank.

As we speak (ca. May2021), Hank practices his brand of law with SandLaw PLLC in Broomfield, Colorado.
