Attorney Garth Buitenhuis of Saskatchewan, CAN; cheating loser

The Law Society of Saskatchewan presented Garth Buitenhuis with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan School of Law.

Law Society Disciplinary Board found Garth guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Charged an estate an unfair and unreasonable fee (cheater)
  • Illegally charged $1,300.00 in fees for time spent responding to ethics complaint
  • Without approval of the Court, enter into a contingent fee agreement for legal services related to a family law dispute
  • Accepted cash in an aggregate amount of $249,700.00 in respect of one transaction, contrary to Law Society of Saskatchewan Rule 909
  • Charged a contingency fee on a family law file in contravention of law society rule 1903

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Garth by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and a $9,500.00.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Garth practices his brand of law with the Garth Buitenhuis Law Office at 1249 8th Street East in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
