Attorney Keisha McDonald of Jamaica; ethical gremlin

The Jamaica Licensing Commission provided Keisha McDonald with a law license in 2005.

The Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Counsel found Keisha guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • In delaying payment of Transfer Tax and Stamp Duty Keisha place client at risk of having a penalty imposed against her clients
  • Put her interest in getting her fee ahead of the interest of the clients in not paying the full amount of the duties owed by her clients
  • Took fees of $202,000, which was $142,000 in excess of the $60,000 she had agreed to be paid when she was employed by her clients
  • Ordered to pay $142,000 in restitution to her clients [victims]

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee punished Keisha by gifting her with a complimentary fine of $80,000.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Keisha practices her brand of law in Kingston, Jamaica.
