Attorney Jonathan Markhoff of North Miami Beach; ethical gremlin

The state of Florida provided Jonathan Ari Markhoff with a law license in 2010 after he graduated from Nova Southeastern University School of Law.

FYI: Nova Southeastern is ranked as the 170^th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Florida State Bar found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Entered into a partnership in a company with a non-lawyer who was an expert in the field of Medicaid benefits
• The company provided both legal and nonlegal services to a client but there was no separation of those services, and no separate retainers
• Johnny’s fees came from payments made to the company
• A non-lawyer employee gave legal advice to the clients to transfer assets to their adult daughter but Markhoff advised same clients to rescind such transfer and enter into service agreements with their daughter instead

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary 45-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2021), Johnny practices his brand of law at 1835 NE Miami Gardens Drive in North Miami Beach, Florida.
