Attorney Jeffrey A. Reitz of Milwaukee; ethical leprechaun

 
The state of Wisconsin provided Jeffrey A. Reitz with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Marquette University Law School.
 
The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) found Jeffrey guilty of the following misconduct:
  1. Failure to act with diligence and promptness (slacker) involving six client matters
  2. Knowingly assisted another attorney in violating Rules of Professional Conduct
  3. Failing to keep clients reasonable informed about the status of their cases
  4. Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit and/or misrepresentation
  5. Failed to promptly respond to client requests for information
  6. Failed to explain legal matter to extent necessary to permit client to make informed decisions regarding his representation
  7. Failed to take reasonable steps to protect a client’s interests
  8. Did not notify a client that he was withdrawing his representation
In the one matter, Jeffrey knowingly and intentionally assisted another dishonest/incompetent attorney when he drafted and had his client sign a release of professional responsibility (legal malpractice) which is a violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct. In this case, the attorney Jeffrey was fronting for was his own partner while he was cheerfully screwing his client.
 
As a consequence of his misconduct, the guardians for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Jeffrey by gifting him with a five-month suspension of his law license.
 
As we speak (ca. May 2012) Jeffrey practices lat at 11931 W. Bluemound Road in Milwaukee.
