Attorney Carl Gaul of Everett, MI; ethical ogre

The state of Washington presented Carl Joseph Gaul with a law license in 1978 after he graduated Gonzaga University School of Law.

The Washington State Bar found Carl guilty of the following misconduct.

• Engaged in a conflict of interest
• Failed to properly protect and disburse client funds
• Failed to prepare written fee agreement
• Told his clients their case would cost around $20,000
• Failed to deposit and maintain client funds in a client trust account
• Failed to promptly deliver client funds to the client upon request
• Entered into prohibited business transaction with a client that was unfair and unreasonable
• Failed to advise his client in writing to consult another attorney prior to entering into business transaction with Carl
• Failed to explain matters to the extent necessary for clients to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Carl by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2021) Carl practices his brand of law at 1604 Hewitt Avenue in Everett, Washington.
