Attorney Thomas E. Krug of Buffalo; ethical dwarf

The state of New York provided Thomas E. Krug with a law license in 1965 after he graduated from SUNY Buffalo.

The Grievance Committee of the 8th Judicial District found Thomas guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his honesty and trustworthiness
  2. Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
  3. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  4. Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his fitness as a lawyer
  5. Unlawfully sharing legal fees with a non-lawyer
  6. Compensating someone for recommending clients to his office
  7. Concealed earned fees from former partners and law firm
The Grievance Committee specifically found Martin guilty of representing a client that was referred to him by a friend and then paying the friend for the referral, which is a definite no, no. When Thomas collected the fee in this matter, he concealed it from his law firm which was disbanding despite a court order requiring him to disclose any earnings.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Appellate Division for the 4th Judicial Department punished Martin by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. May 2012) Thomas practices law with Tiernan & Krug at 110 Pearl Street in Buffalo.
