Attorney Warren Schaeffer of Greeley, CO; ethical troll

The state of Colorado presented Warren W. Schaeffer with a law license in 1997 after he graduated from the University of Denver School of Law.

The Colorado State Bar found Warren guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Pled guilty to driving while ability impaired (DUI)
  • Failed to place client’s unearned fees in a trust account
  • Kept no record of a client’s payments
  • Failed to communicate with the client about the terms of and fees for the representation
  • On the day of client’s trial, Warren appeared without the client’s exhibits
  • Completed on some of requested legal work, but refused to provide refund when client terminated the representation (cheater)
  • Never provided client with written statement explaining basis or rate of his fee
  • Failed to promptly comply with client information requests
  • Failed to explain a matter so as to permit the client to make informed decisions about the representation
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Warren by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. October 2020), Warren practices with Warren W. Schaeffer LLC at 2450 35th Avenue Court in Greeley, Colorado.
