Attorney Alexis Ravitch of New York City; scamming ambulance chaser
The state of New York provided Alexis Ravitch with a law license in 1995 after she graduated from Fordham Law School.
In 2011 the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the 1st Judicial Department filed misconduct charges against Alexis based on her criminal conviction for soliciting business on behalf of an attorney (illegal ambulance chasing).
Alexis’ conviction arose out of a sting operation that targeted a medical clinic, whose manager had pleaded guilty to enterprise corruption based on an insurance fraud scheme. Alexis was busted when an undercover officer, acting as a patient received an offer from her to persuade patients to retain her law firm.
The disciplinary committee stated that Alexis’ misconduct was more egregious than that of Rudgayzer in which an attorney entered into implicit agreements with a medical provider to make payments in exchange for continued patient referrals. The disciplinary committee was convinced that this wasn’t a one-time occurrence for Alexis the Ambulance chaser. In short, the committee found that Alexis was a serial violator of the law prohibiting such conduct.
As a consequence of her criminal misconduct, the proponents for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the 1st Judicial Department punished Alexis by gifting her with a complimentary 90-day suspension of her law license.
