Judge Robin J. Curtis of Chaumont, NY; certified idiot

In 1993 Robin duped the voters in the Chaumont area to elect him as a Justice Court Judge on the Lyme Town Court in Jefferson County, New York. Unfortunately, Robin has been sitting as Judge ever since.

In early 2012, the New York Judicial Commission found Robin guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. 5 of Robin’s neighbors appeared in his court to complain about Arnold Montgomery’s conduct
  2. The neighbors asked Robin to issue an order of protection on their behalf and against Mr. Montgomery
  3. Robin then issued 2 orders of protection against Mr. Montgomery even though there were no pending actions against him in Robin’s court or any other court in the State of New York
Because Robin’s orders of protection were unlawful, he was forced to withdraw them when Montgomery’s attorney complained about them.

Shortly before the two illegal orders were to expire, Robin’s 5 friends wrote to him and asked that he extend the orders for another year. Without any notice to Mr. Montgomery or his attorneys, Robin reissued what he absolutely knew were illegal orders of protection on behalf of his friends and neighbors.

In truth, Robin thumbed his nose at the law and expressed total contempt for Mr. Montgomery’s constitutional due process rights when it came time to do some favors for his so-called friends.

As a consequence of his egregious misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Robin by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

Clearly Robin’s conduct wasn’t an honest error. He was sitting on the bench for nearly 20 years and damn well knew he couldn’t issue any protection orders against anyone if there wasn’t any pending criminal case.

As we speak (ca. May 2012) Robin continues to sit on the Lyme Town Court and will likely only leave when he’s taken away in a wooden robe.
