Attorney Bridgette Johnson of Randleman, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina presented Bridgette D. Johnson with a law license in 2008 after she graduated from the North Carolina Central University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Bridgette guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to maintain client ledgers
  • Failed to maintain a ledger containing a record of receipts and disbursements for each person or entity from whom and for whom entrusted funds were received and the current balance of funds held in the trust account for each such person or entity
  • Failed to conduct monthly and quarterly reconciliations of her trust account
  • Failed
  • Failed to total the individual client balances shown on the ledger of a general trust account with the current bank statement
  • balance for the trust account each quarter
  • Failed to reconcile the balance of the trust account as shown on her records with the current bank statement balance for the trust account each month
  • Failed to identify on deposit slips the clients for whom funds were being deposited into the trust account
  • Failed to maintain the requisite record listing the name of the client to whom the funds deposited into the trust account belonged
  • By disbursing funds from the trust account for the benefit of clients who did not have funds in the trust account at that time, Bridgette failed to appropriately maintain and disburse entrusted funds
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Bridgette!)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Bridgette by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 3-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Bridgette.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Bridgette practices at 114-A Pointe South Drive in Randleman, North Carolina.
