Attorney Kenneth Jones of Smithfield, NC; ethical gremlin

The state of North Carolina presented Kenneth R. Jones with a law license in 2001 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Kenny guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to reconcile trust accounts on quarterly basis
  • Failed to accurately identify client disbursements made from his trust accounts
  • Failed to consistently maintain accurate client ledgers
  • Failed to track entrusted funds received and disbursed for each client
  • Failed to maintain ledgers containing record of receipts and disbursements for each person for whom funds were received
  • Failed to obtain appropriate digital images of canceled checks drawn on trust accounts
  • Failed to maintain minimum trust account records
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Kenny by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2021), Kenny practices at 111 North Third Street in Smithfield, North Carolina.
