Attorney Marie Pharoah of Laurel, MD; ethical goblin

The state of Maryland provided Marie Lott Pharoah with a law license in 1991 after she graduated from Harvard University School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Marie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to safeguard unearned fees in her trust account
• Failed obtain her client’s informed consent, confirmed in writing, to hold the funds in a non-trust account
• Failed to keep contemporaneous time records to provide her client with an accurate invoice

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Marie by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.
