Attorney James Barton of Columbia, MO; scamming loser

The state of Missouri presented James P. Barton with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to abide by various trust account rules
  • Engaged in the illegal practice of law in North Carolina without a license
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Allowed statute of limitations to toll in client’s cause of action
  • Failed to adequately explain his fees
  • Failed to deposit multiple payments into his client trust account
  • Requested that his client withdraw her ethics complaint

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. October 2020), Jimmy practices at 2606 Lloyd Drive in Columbia, Missouri.
