Attorney Arthur Kirkland Jr. of Detroit; ethical goblin

The state of Michigan presented Arthur C. Kirkland Jr. with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from Wayne State University School of Law.

The Tri-County Hearing Panel #5 found Art guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Ordered to pay restitution of $3,960.00 to former clients [victims]
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct and/or knowingly assisted or induced another to do
  • Failed to pay sanctions that were contained in a final, enforceable order of the court
  • Had no legal basis to continue to pursue property redemption claims on client’s behalf that had already been dismissed by the trial court

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Art by gifting him with a complimentary 179-day suspension of his law license effective February 27, 2020 and assessed investigative costs of $2,916.84

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Art will resume his practice in early August 2020 in Detroit, Michigan.
