Attorney Douglas Hux of Eden, NC; cheating loser

The state of North Carolina presented Douglas R. Hux with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Doug guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Divulged confidential client information
  • Paid $25,000 upfront fee on May 18 to represent a woman charged with embezzlement by the U.S. Attorney
  • Fired on July 1 due to Doug providing confidential client info to the local newspaper
  • Upon being fired on July 1, client demanded a refund of the unearned portion of the $25,000 upfront fee
  • Doug only offered to refund $5,000 while pocketing $20,000 even though he had worked on the case for less than two weeks as of the time of his termination
  • Retained a clearly excessive fee (cheater)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Doug by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2020) Doug practices at 703 Washington Street in Eden, North Carolina.
