Attorney William B. Caits of New York City; pugilistic coward

The state of New York presented William B. Caits with a law license in 1975 after graduating from the University of Toledo Law School.

In 2007 Billy was convicted of attempted assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree. Because Attorney Misfits are held to a lower standard of conduct then everyone else in New York, the Queens County Court sentenced Billy to a conditional discharge and a $300 fine. Billy was also ordered to attend a 12-week anger management program. An unreliable source indicated that Billy opted to attend the Ike Turner Anger Management Institute located in Brooklyn.

Billy’s criminal convictions stem from an altercation with another female patron at a restaurant he attended with his wife and child. Billy became annoyed by noise emanating from a DVD player in a nearby booth that was occupied by the patron and her father. Billy then asked the patron to turn down the music and also complained to the manager. After Billy voiced his dissatisfaction with the patron’s adjustments and the manager’s suggestion that he relocate to another booth, Billy responded by punching her twice.

Subsequently the Disciplinary Counsel for the First Judicial Department filed misconduct charges against Billy based on his two criminal convictions. Disciplinary Counsel also charged Billy with testifying falsely (perjury) during his criminal trial and during his disciplinary deposition that he did not hit the woman twice and that he didn’t intend to cause injury.

The Counsel went on to rule that Billy’s conduct involved dishonesty, fraud, deceit, and that he lacked any remorse.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Counsel for the First Judicial Department punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. April 2012) Billy the Pugilistic Coward practices law with Ticor Title at 711 3rd Avenue in New York City.
