► DA Maeghan Maloney of Maine; ethical goblin

The state of Maine provided Maeghan Maloney with a law license in 1997 after she graduated from Harvard University Law School.

The Maine Board of Bar Overseers found Maeghan guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communication with and at the specific request of Superior Court Justice Donald Marden
  • The conversation between Meaghan and Justice Marden took place without the attorney for the defendant being present or even given prior notice of said meeting
  • The illegal conversation between Meaghan and Justice Marden ultimately resulted in the conviction of Eric Bard on multiple child sexual assault charges
  • The illegal conversations and/or conferences held between Meaghan and Justice Marden led to Mr. Bard’s conviction being overturned and a new trial being ordered by a higher court

Because of Meaghan and Justice Marden’s illegal ex parte communications, the overtaxed citizens of Maine will be further taxed by being forced to pay for the retrial of Mr. Bard.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maine Board of Bar Overseers punished Maeghan by gifting her with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), continues to be employed as the District Attorney for Kennebec and Somerset Counties
