Attorney Richard Berger of Oklahoma City; ethical ogre

The state of Oklahoma provided Richard Fred Berger with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the University of Tulsa School of Law.

The Oklahoma Bar Association found Dick guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Neglected client matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Dick!)
  • Failed to cooperate with his client
  • There was an absence of credibility in respondent's efforts to explain away his misconduct by shifting the responsibility to others
  • Failed to cooperate with client’s subsequent counsel
  • Failed to produce any facts, witnesses or documents which supported his position that others were responsible for this neglect
  • Ethics panel believed Dick had not been forthcoming with investigators about the facts and that it was he who had constructed the purported Journal Entry to cover up his neglect of his client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Missouri Supreme Court punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Dick practices at 1330 North Classen Blvd in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
