Attorney Laura Coggin of Yulee, FL; cheater, repeat offender

The state of Florida presented Laura Healan Coggin with a law license in 2008 after she graduated from Florida State University School of Law.

The Florida State Bar found Laura guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Laura’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

•  conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation 
• Failed to provide competent representation
• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to decline/terminate representation when required to so act
• Charged a clearly excessive fee (cheater)
• Failed to provide requested billing records to her client

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Laura by gifting her with a complimentary 18-month suspension of her law license.   

Laura’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Knowingly failed to perform services of a client causing or potentially causing injury to the client
• Engaged in a pattern of neglect of client matters
• Failed to explain matter to extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
• Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
• Failed to decline/terminate representation when required to so act

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Laura by gifting her with a complimentary 30-daysuspension of her law license.
