The state of Georgia presented James Cornwell, Jr. with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from the Woodrow Wilson College of Law.
In the recent past, Jimmy was a Superior Court Judge of Mountain Judicial Circuit. During his tenure on the bench, the Judicial Commission charged Jimmy with the following misconduct.
The SUV wreck came about when Jimmy crashed his Trailblazer into a tree and left the scene after the vehicle burst into flames. Jimmy the Comic had the chutzpah to claim the accident occurred when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer. A state trooper who interviewed Jimmy at his home after the accident said he had a “strong odor of alcohol” on his breath. This indicates that Jimmy was lying about hitting a deer.
Rather than wait until the Georgia Supreme Court ordered him removed from the bench, Jimmy did what any admirable coward would do, he resigned.
As we speak (ca. April 2012) Jimmy practices with Cornwell Law, LLC at 268 N. Broad Street in Toccoa, Georgia.
