Attorney Nancy Murphy of River Forest, IL; ethical goblin

The state of Wisconsin presented Nancy C. Murphy with a law license in 1990 after she graduated from DePaul University School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Nancy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Represented husband in divorce and sought custody of minor child for her client
  • When husband and wife reconciled, Nancy engaged in a conflict of interest by representing the husband’s parents in their attempt to gain custody of the child
  • Charged $8,000 in fees to another client’s credit card without authorization to do so

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Counsel punished Nancy by gifting her with a complimentary 6-month suspension of her law license.

As one would suspect, Anne fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on her website at www.abeckertlaw.com. Apparently, Anne chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting her future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Nancy practices with Murphy Law at 1111 Bonnie Brae Place in River Forest, Illinois.

CAUTION: Nancy does not carry legal malpractice insurance
