Attorney Howard Collins of Salem, OR; ethical troll

The State of Oregon presented Howard W. Collins with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Williamette University School of Law.

The Disciplinary Counsel found Howie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to preserve client funds
  • Failed to use the required form of written fee agreement
  • Inappropriately treated the client’s payment as earned upon receipt
  • Failed to include necessary language in his flat-fee agreement and to maintain client’s funds in trust until earned
  • Failed to promptly return requested client property

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Howie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As one would suspect, Howie fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.howardcollinslaw.com. Apparently, Howie decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients so that he would not limit his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. April 2020) Howie practices with Howard Collins Law in Salem, Oregon.
