New York State Judicial Ivory Soap Purity Rating for 2011

Ivory Soap advertises a purity rating of 99.4%. In the New York judicial system, there are about 1,500 judges and 2,000 Justices of the Peace. The vast majority of the JPs are not attorneys wherein all judges are required to have a law degree.

The textbox below clearly indicates that it is nearly impossible to find a dishonest or incompetent judge sitting on the courts in New York. Put simply, these judges put Ivory Soap’s purity claim to shame.

New Yorkers can and should take great pride in having a judiciary that is nearly perfect in regards to ethics and intelligence. I bet the folks in Jersey are like really envious!

The main reason that New Yorkers have one of the country’s most ethical judiciary’s is because of the makeup of the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct. To guarantee that the Commission is unbiased in regards to investigating Judicial Misfits, it is made up of 4 Judges, 5 lawyers and 1 non-attorney. As we speak (ca. April 2012) there is one vacancy on the 11-member Commission.

Clearly it wouldn’t be fair if the Commission was primarily made up of non-lawyers. After all, don’t ya really have to have a law license to understand what constitutes judicial misconduct or misfeasance?
