Attorney William Burton of Chevy Chase, MD; ethical ogre

The state of Maryland presented William Franklin Burton with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Billy settled potential legal malpractice claim with unrepresented former client without advising the client in writing of the need to seek independent legal counsel and without allowing a reasonable opportunity to seek independent legal advice.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.  

As we speak (ca. March 2020), Billy practices with Burton Law LLC at 5425 Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
