Attorney William Swafford of Chicago; cheating liar

The state of Illinois presented William Albert Swafford with a law license in 2012 after he graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law. He also received a law license from the state of Nevada in 2009.

The Disciplinary Commission found Billy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, which was consistent with findings by the Nevada Supreme Court.

  • Knowingly assisted another attorney in representing two brothers with conflicting interests in a criminal matter
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to appear at court-scheduled hearings on client’s behalf
  • Made a misrepresentation to a judge about his appearance at a hearing
  • Overdrew client trust account
  • Failed to cooperate with Nevada authorities re: client trust account (Screw you, said Billy!)
  • Failed to timely file a pleading on client’s behalf
  • Failed to deposit client’s funds into trust account
  • Failed to refund any unearned fees (cheater)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2020), Billy practices with the Law Offices of William Swafford LLC at 1347 West Washington Blvd in Chicago, Illinois.

CAUTION: Billy is not covered by malpractice insurance
