Judge Shari R. Michels of New York City; lying loser

The state of New York presented Shari R. Michaels with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)

Shari R. Michaels succeeded in duping the voters into electing her as a Judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York in November 2006.

In late 2011 the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Michaels guilty of the following misconduct in her first election.
  • Lied in advertising that the New York Times had endorsed her election
  • Used another candidate’s name with permission
  • Received campaign contributions that exceeded the maximum allowed by law
The Commission further ruled that:
  • Michaels’ conduct was deceptive and that such deception has no place in judicial campaigns
  • A judge’s election is tarnished by campaign practices that are unethical
Shari’s false advertising worked because she beat her opponent by receiving 9,808 votes to 7,814 for her opponent, Kelly O’Neill Levy.

As a consequence of her misconduct in lying in order to dupe the voters, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Michaels by gifting her with a complimentary admonishment.

Is it any wonder that most New Yorkers have total contempt for the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct?

As we speak (ca. March 2012) Shari continues to sit on the Civil Court in New York City.
