Attorney Jeffrey White of Portland, ME; thieving liar

The state of Maine presented Jeffrey P. White with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of Maine School of Law.

The Maine Board of Bar Overseers found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to communicate with the client about the means to accomplish the client’s objectives
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to respond to client information requests
  • Failed to return unearned advanced fee (thief)
  • Failed to place advanced fee into client trust account
  • Failed to act with candor [tell the truth] to a tribunal
  • Falsified evidence
  • Untruthful in statements to others
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, deceit, and misrepresentation
  • Implied an ability to improperly influence a governmental agency or official
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Maine Supreme Court punished Jeff by gifting him with a complimentary 9-month suspension of his law license effective October 22, 2019.

As we speak (ca. January 2020), Jeff will resume his practice at 243 Mount Auburn Avenue in Auburn, Maine in late April 2020.
